ASALOOYEH (POGC) -- The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company announced the commissioning of the first steam unit of the Besat Combined Cycle Power Plant of South Pars with a capacity of 157 MW.

Mohammad Meshkinfam, referring to the successful synchronizing operation of the first steam unit of the Besat combined cycle power plant with the power transmission network, said: “The combined cycle section of Besat power plant with three 157-MW blocks, including 6 heat recovery boilers, 3 steam turbine units, 3 generators and ancillary facilities has come on stream.

He said that the combined cycle section of Besat power plant will have significant support for sustainable gas production in South Pars refineries by enhancing the power generation capacity of the power plant, adding: “With the completion of all 3 combined cycle units, power generation capacity of Besat power plant will be increased by about 500 MW and the capacity of the combined cycle complex and the gas sector will reach 1500 MW.”

Meshkinfam added: "Considering that this amount of electricity generation capacity will be more than the needs and consumption of South Pars refineries 1 and 2, this support capacity will help the stability of the electricity distribution network in the region and its excess capacity will be transferred to the national grid."

The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company stated that the construction and implementation of Besat Combined Cycle Power Plant is the result of the efforts of Iranian specialists of Farab Company as the main contractor and Pars Oil and Gas Company as the development arm of the National Iranian Oil Company in South Pars.

“The second and third units of this power plant will be put into operation within the next 2 to 6 months according to the schedule,” he went on to add.
